engaged {surrey event photography}

A few hours after we finished up a great engagement shoot with Natasha + Faraaz  in Coal Harbour, we proceeded to the Royal King Palace in Surrey, BC. With chandelier lighting, satin ribbons, bejeweled details and heavenly smells, the beautiful couple was ready to celebrate their engagement with a few hundred of their closest friends and family. Loved ones literally travelled from all corners of the world to participate in the traditions and festivities.
Here's just a small peek of some of the fun....

they've got that loving feeling... {photo booth}

I officially heart photo booth photography. It is pretty common to see photo booths set up at wedding receptions and events these days, but it is something I had yet to try. I will be running a photo booth at one of my weddings this summer, so thought it would be a good idea to do one before hand.
My event of choice? Tuesday night Young Life Club in Mission, BC. I love this ministry, and not just because my hubby works for them, but because of their mission statement and subsequently, the way that the next generation is impacted.
I have to give props to my assistant, Taylor (pictured above), for helping me throughout the night...she rocks. Enough of me, here are some kiddos near and dear to my heart :)
Aaaaaaand.....if you are interested in having a photobooth at your event, feel free to drop me a note.

global heartbeat 2010 {event}

This post is exciting for me, both professionally and personally. This was my first official, "big" event to shoot and it was no small affair (hello...the mayor attended!!!!). The reason it has a personal interest to me is that this evening was a fundraiser for Hunger Response International. My friend Lorri Sawatsky (pictured below) is a woman that is passionate about her ministry. The theme this year for the event was "Give me your eyes..." This is totally reflective of Lorri's vision:  teaching children + others to change the way they look at the world - through the eyes of Jesus! The people involved in this organization genuinely yearn to bring about change to countries that are so much less fortunate than our own. I highly urge you to check out the link to her website; go to the "about" section and watch the video there. The effect that this mission has had and continues to have, globally, gave me goosebumps as I watched.
Lorri - it was an inspiration to see a glimpse of what you do, and it was an honor to be invited to photograph such a fantastic event. Blessings to you as you travel to Ethiopa...now those will be some pictures to see!
