jerad + margriet {engagement}

I drove home from this session with a smile on my face. It wasn't just the simple excitement of getting some really fun photos; it was also the fact that I had spent an hour with a couple that was laughing constantly, and so obviously in love with each other. They were infectious. 

When I met Margriet for our initial consult, just before Christmas, she was sweet, relaxed and easy going. The next time I saw her was at this shoot, with Jerad. The boy completely lit her up. It is such a joy, as a photographer to take pictures of such a relationship.

Jerad + Margriet...You guys are such a fantastic match! I am so very looking forward to your May wedding. 

emily + thomas {couples}

I had way, way too much fun with this post. The couple pictured in this session is my baby sister, Emily and her new husband Thomas. You can see some of their wedding photos here. Thomas recently moved here from Belgium and the newlyweds are starting their married life together in style. Through some fabulous connections (and a whole lot of luck), these two are housesitting at a gorgeous character home in the heart of Oak Bay. Not only is it 1/2 a block from the ocean, it is also overflowing with charm and history. There are numerous collections throughout the home: art, old keys, jelly molds, and books. As soon as I walked through the door at Christmas time, I knew I had to shoot here. Thankfully, Em and Thomas were willing models; and although the natural light in this house isn't the best, I love some of the shots we got . The first half of the post features portraits of Emily and the house, and Thomas joined us later on for some cozy pictures of the couple. So, without further ado....
